Martin 1939 D-18

Excellent condition - Early 1939 expertly refinished by Andy Todd with a slight antiqued look, 1 ¾’’ nut width, Adirondack Spruce top, newer correct bridge plate, neckset, older refret, newer correct Ebony bridge, original tortoise grain pickguard, small inside cleat for back that is not through and two small patches added to top around top of rosette. This beast is rock-solid with no top cracks and dry as a bone with deep rich bottom end, very “punchy” midrange and crystal clear & mellow high end. Give a listen as Master Kenny Smith plays it on this page and hear the pure vintage tone and power this outstanding box contains. Looks ancient, sounds ancient, light as a piece of paper and plays like a dream. BIG SOUND. Comes with older heavy duty hard case.

Altman 2008 MF-5 Varnish

Excellent condition - Extremely deep warm “woody” open tone with “woof, pop and ping.” Make a “G-Chop” you can feel and hear the air flooding out of the “F” holes. The overall sound is liken unto sixty plus years of playing. Very powerful with clarity and balance in all registers with no fall-off. Adirondack Spruce top, one piece highly flamed Maple back, side & neck, varnish finish, triple side bound body, neck & peghead, engraved “James” tailpiece, 1 1/8’’ FWI nut, Waverly tuners, Ebony scooped fingerboard, Ebony abbreviated pickguard and Ebony traditional bridge. Plays like butter and sounds sweeter than honey. Priced with form-fit hard case.
