Merrill C-18 Mahogany Dreadnought
New - Just what you would expect from a Merrill Mahogany Dreadnought with that dry open “woody & throaty” tone that is vibrant and so responsive. This is another example of that classic sound of the mid thirties that is so highly cherished and sought after. Built to exact 30’s specs with a extremely fine medium grain Adirondack top, Adirondack braces, Honduran Mahogany back, sides and neck, Ebony traditional bridge and fingerboard, Ivory nut and thru saddle, 1 ¾’’ nut width, antiqued “Butterbean” tuners and vintage style tortoise grain pickguard. Simply put this is one of the finest Mahogany Dreads you will encounter that is if you desire that decades old tone and sound. Priced with deluxe hard case.  
Collings CWBaA Varnish Brazilian Rosewood
New – Perfect Adirondack Spruce top with tight grain in the middle that expands to wide grain at the bouts, # 1 upgrade - extra nice AA Brazilian Rosewood back & sides with the back containing 50% straight grain in the middle and some beautiful figure at the bouts with the light orange tint through out and the sides are a mixture of straight and figured. # 2 upgrade is the varnish finish and yes it does make a difference and # 3 upgrade is the SM Fire pickguard. Inclusive with this model are the upgraded goodies that is standard on the CW model and those are Adirondack braces, no tongue brace, 1 23/32’’ nut width, thru saddle and bound fingerboard with no inlay. As you would expect the sound is very dry, warm and full of tremendous rich older tone with extreme power, balance and sustain. Another highlight is the neck as it contains some beautiful flame running from the heel to the volute. Many believe this to be the “ultimate” Collings Dreadnought guitar and when played it will melt you in your seat so keep a spatula handy. As we all know these are just not available and who knows for sure may not be in the future but they don’t get much better than this. Priced with deluxe hard case. |
